Frequently Asked Questions
Here is a list of some of our most asked questions by our customers, if your question is not in the list feel free to contact us!
We have two pick-up / drop-off points in Belfast. The coach departs from Belfast Grand Central Station (Stand 18) and then serves Stena Line Victoria Terminal 4.
At the Stena Line Terminal, the coach picks up and drops off directly outside the main terminal building, at the coach bays beside the entrance. All coach bays (01–06) are located together in the same area, immediately outside the terminal.
Passengers should aim to arrive at the terminal at least 10 minutes before the scheduled departure time, and then make their way outside to the coach bays around 2–3 minutes before departure to allow for luggage loading and boarding.
Yes, this is a through-service. The coach will drive you on and off the boat. It is important that you make a note of which vehicle deck the coach is parked on. You MUST return punctually to the coach on the ferry vehicle deck following onboard passenger announcements. The coach will leave the ferry as directed by port staff and will not wait for passengers who fail to return to the coach.
There is no requirement for British/Irish citizens to show identification when travelling UK – UK on our Express Coach Service. However, the ferry operator does advise passengers to bring photographic ID. Non British/Irish citizens are recommended to check the entry and travel requirements of the destination country/transit countries by contacting the proper embassies or consulates.
We don’t offer an Open Return ticket, as all journeys must be pre-booked for a specific date and time. However, our fare structure is simple and fully flexible — the fare is the same each way, regardless of when you travel.
This means there’s no price penalty for booking your outward and return journeys separately, even if your return date is weeks or months later. You can travel one way, return the same day, or book a return for any future date that suits you — all at the same flat rate.
Yes. All our coaches are fitted with three-point seat belts on every seat to ensure passenger safety and comfort. Passengers aged 14 and over are legally required to wear seat belts where fitted. We recommend that all passengers, regardless of age, wear their seat belt at all times while seated.
Travel insurance is NOT included. HANNON Coach highly recommended you have travel insurance for financial protection against cancellations, travel disruption, or other unforeseen events. HANNON Coach may not be held responsible for your personal belongings or travel insurance in general. It is your responsibility to look after your belongings. HANNON Coach cannot be held responsible for loss, theft or damage to any of your personal belongings, regardless of the circumstances.
Booking Recommendations for Wheelchair Users
We strongly encourage wheelchair users to book their travel in advance. For services which include a ferry element, such as our Belfast – Glasgow Coach & Sail Service, a minimum of 72 hours advance booking is required.
This allows us to conduct the following checks to ensure a seamless journey:
- Liaise with the ferry operator regarding its ability to accommodate your requirements on specific sailings.
- Verify that the wheelchair is compatible with the space available on the coach.
- Confirm that the combined weight of the wheelchair and user does not exceed the 300kg safe working load of the wheelchair lift.
- Ensure that the boarding and alighting locations are accessible stops where the wheelchair lift can be deployed.
- Check that the specific coach for the planned journey is not already fully booked.
- For private and contract hire services, accessibility requirements must be provided at the time of booking to ensure all needs can be met.
Wheelchair Lift Specifications
The wheelchair lift has a maximum safe working load of 300kg, including the weight of the wheelchair and its occupant. The wheelchair lift cannot be used for boarding unless the passenger remains seated in their wheelchair. Additionally, no companion or carer may be on the lift when it is in use.
Yes. While we do not provide child car seats or booster seats, you are strongly encouraged to bring your own suitable restraint if travelling with a child.
Children may legally travel unrestrained on coaches if appropriate child seats are not provided—but this is not recommended and not the safest option. For your child’s safety, we strongly recommend using a properly fitted child seat or booster seat whenever possible.
Please be aware that not all child restraints are compatible with coach seating. We advise checking whether your seat can be safely secured using the available three-point seat belts on board.
Yes. All seated passengers aged 14 years or over are legally required to wear seat belts where provided. For safety, we also strongly encourage all passengers, including children, to wear seat belts at all times while the vehicle is in motion.
